POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP
The position will involve investigating the role of sleep in the emergence or exacerbation of neuropsychiatric disorders with a specific focus on aging and cognition in people living with schizophrenia. Our foundation and philanthropy-funded clinical research program utilizes high density sleep EEG, functional/structural connectivity MRI and clinical/cognitive assessments. We are looking for post-doctoral scholars who are familiar with EEG analysis and programming. Additionally, Dr. Baran is the co-director of the PIER Program, a clinical research program focusing on clinical and familial high risk for psychotic disorders, and applicants with an interest in taking a lifespan development approach to psychotic disorders are particularly encouraged. The position requires working closely with the PI and the lab as well as other investigators in the U Iowa Schizophrenia Research Program to develop, improve and apply data analytic techniques. Training in clinical research, sleep physiology and in the acquisition, analysis, and interpretation of neuroimaging data will be provided.
Requirements: PhD (or MD) in neuroscience, psychology, engineering or a related discipline and a strong research background. Ideal candidates would have extensive experience in EEG data analysis, a background in computational neuroscience and/or signal processing, be proficient in Matlab/Python and be interested in methods development. The following are highly beneficial: experience with MRI data analysis/methodology, background in cognitive neuroscience, experimental psychology and sleep; and interest/experience with clinical populations.
The position is available immediately. Please send a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and selected publications to Bengi Baran (bengi-baran@uiowa.edu). Stipend levels are in line with experience and NIH.

UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANTS
We are accepting undergraduate research assistants for volunteering initially and for credit. This is an excellent research opportunity for students bound for graduate school in psychology, cognitive neuroscience or medicine. In addition to training in several neuroscience research methods, interested RAs who have been in the lab for a while will be able to work on honors theses.
